A consistent reminder of the multiplied blessings we’ve seen at AWC this year has been the steady stream of expectant moms contacting us for support while pregnant with twins—nine moms of twins so far in 2019. One of them is Jacqui*.
Welcome to Safety Saturday! This coming week is Child Passenger Safety Week (September 15-21, 2019 ) and next Saturday, September 21, 2019 is National Seat Check Saturday. Every 32 seconds in 2017, a child under the age of 13 in a passenger vehicle was involved in a crash. Many injuries and deaths can be prevented by proper use of car seats, boosters, and seat belts.

A few weeks after Erica* took a Plan B contraceptive pill, she discovered that it had not worked—she was pregnant. Upset and overwhelmed, she quickly scheduled an appointment for an abortion. When Erica ran into her friend Gia that week, she confided in her about the situation she was facing.
Jessica* came to us single and pregnant. Though she and her baby’s father had agreed to co-parent, he was in trouble with the law and would not be available to help for the first few years. Maddie* came through our purple doors pregnant, alone, and sure that her only way out was an abortion. Our Medical Services Director Linda listened as Maddie shared her story of being a single mom who worked long hours to support her family.
Dads today spend triple the amount of time caring for their children than dads did 50 years ago. Making sure dads with infants know how to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related causes of infant death is more important than ever.
